Hospital: Lilongwe

Healthcare, Affordable Construction - Lilongwe

The local people of “Chinsapo” a small settlement in the Lilongwe district of the Republic of Malawi, a landlocked country in Southeast Africa, are smiling a whole lot more nowadays.

The construction of a charitable maternity/general care hospital, which commenced on 9th October 2015, will comprise a 200 square meters structure inclusive of an NICU. The bottles, replacing conventional baked bricks in construction, are filled by a few local women hired from the community providing employment.

The hospital will serve a population of approximately 40,000 who currently have proximal access to healthcare.

The hospital is scheduled to be commissioned by December 2016.

Besides playing an important role in providing accessible medical care, this project will also showcase waste management and green power by utilising a sewage treatment plant, along with a bio-digester.

Malawi is among the world's least developed countries. The Malawian government faces challenges in building and expanding the economy, improving education, health care, environmental protection, and financial independence for its citizens.
