Samarpan Turns 18!!
India
This year, we celebrated a significant milestone—18 years since our inception in 2006! The baby, born in 2006, officially became an adult this year. To honour this occasion, we planned a week-long celebration from 7th to 16th September, 2024, that allowed us to share our joy with various organizations and their beneficiaries. Our students from all projects in Delhi visited inspiring places like Jamghat and Astha Foundation for street children, Ritanjali for slum communities, and Wagging Tales dog shelter. They also connected with the elderly at Guru Vishram Vridha Ashram, engaged with acid attack survivors at Sheroes Hangout Café, supported the LGBTQA+ community at Mitr Trust, and interacted with children at SPYM, a drug rehabilitation centre. Our previous project beneficiaries from Akshardham, Shastri Park, and Hathi Basti were also entertained with acts of kindness, a range of cultural performances and some healing meditation.
On 13th September, the entire Samarpan fraternity from Delhi went to Oh! Max Dream World theme park, where students enjoyed thrilling rides, games, and dancing. Our in-house celebrations at various projects added to the joy of this milestone.
Our Bengaluru animal welfare team made a big impact this birthday season! They partnered with Sarvodaya Trauma Centre to install a UPS for power backup and spruced up dog enclosures and beds, ensuring a comfy space for the animals. They also provided recreational gear for the staff, including table tennis and badminton sets.
In Bidadi, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, we supported rescuer Girish by medicating and feeding 800 dogs for 15 days. Additionally, we made life a little easier for the Friend for Animal Trust by gifting them a grass-cutting machine.
