Children's Homes: Delhi
Homes - New Delhi
Maharani Bagh (Home for Girls) and New Friends Colony (Home for Boys)
Why
- Samarpan Homes have been created for orphaned, abandoned and abused children. The children come from varied backgrounds and live as a family. The home for girls has a government licence issued by the Department of Women and Child Development and has a certificate of recognition under section 37 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2000.
- We focus on being like surrogate parents for the children, ensuring they feel loved together with creating childhood experiences and an environment that feels like a family home.
- We can’t change their pasts, but we can give them a happy today and a tomorrow to look forward to. We nurture and care for them, giving them the opportunity to grow, develop and realise their dreams.
- We work closely with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Child Protection Unit, government-recognised bodies, and present reports every quarter for each child which track their progress.
Home
- All children live under the care of volunteers and a team of dedicated staff.
- Almost all the children are enrolled into private schools. New admissions at the home and children with specific requirements are home tutored and provided with vocational training.
- Children are comfortable and confident conversing in English due to encouragement to speak and read in English at the home, along with extra classes.
- We offer:
- co-curricular activities, talent spotting and creativity development;
- sports, drama, music and arts and crafts;
- summer and winter holiday programmes, including field trips, sports and art activities;
- regular outings, functions and celebrations of festivals.
- We will continue to provide support for the children into adulthood.
